When you decide to buy a kitchen tool you might want to check which ones you like and which ones are harmful, says health expert Dr. Andrew Hoggard.
But if you’ve got more than one tool, there are some which may be worth it, he says.
Hoggart, a member of the British Association for Food Science and Technology, said a good kitchen tool should last you a lifetime.
“A good kitchen should last a very long time.
If you have a good tool you will probably be able to keep it for many years,” he says, “and you can replace it when it breaks, and you can reuse it if it gets worn out.”
If you’ve just bought a new tool, you might also want to think about what it is.
You may be thinking, “It’s a kitchen instrument.”
Hoggar said that’s the best way to compare it to a home appliance.
“It is a kitchen appliance,” he said.
But there are other kitchen tools that are not kitchen appliances, he said, like a kitchen stove, oven, coffee maker and blender.
He recommends that you only buy a few of these types of kitchen tools.
But you shouldn’t use a home-made appliance, Hoggas says.
“You shouldn’t do that, because that’s going to make the tool feel like a luxury and not as important as it really is,” he told ABC News.
You can find out how many of these items you should consider buying from your local grocery store.
