With the kitchen tools you need, we’ve assembled a handy guide to how to get the most out of your kitchen tools.
Remove the plastic covers.
If you have a microwave, the cover should be off the wall.
Remove it and rinse off any grease or residue.
Remove any plastic wrapping on the inside or outside of the lid, and discard the plastic.
Do not reuse the cover, but use it as a template for making the lid or lid assembly.
Unscrew the plastic screw tabs.
Remove all screws on the lid and top of the container, and use a sharp object to remove the screws.
You will need to use a screwdriver or small tool to remove any excess plastic.
Replace the plastic cover.
If the lid is open, pull out the lid.
Use a sharp, sharp object like a screw driver to pry the lid open.
The plastic will be shiny and flaky.
Insert the lid into the container.
If it is a microwave or a pot, remove the lid from the container and then gently insert it into the microwave or pot.
The lid should be snug and the lid will hold the container in place.
Close the lid again.
Use the same sharp object or small screwdriver to pull the lid out again.
You should be able to slide it out without any additional force.
Fill the container with water.
Fill your microwave or soup pot with enough water to fill the container about 3/4 full.
If your microwave has a lid, fill it with about half of the water in the lid (approximately 3 cups).
If you’re using a pot or microwave, you’ll need to add about 1/2 cup more water to the pot or the microwave.
If both of these things are done correctly, the lid should now be empty.
Heat the water.
Once the lid has been removed, place the container into the hot water.
Make sure the lid covers the inside of the pot and the water should not run off the inside.
If not, then the lid may be a little leaky.
Cover with a towel or paper towel.
Use your knife or other sharp object, and carefully cut through the lid to get at the water inside.
Place the lid back on.
This should be easy if the lid can be unscrewed without getting wet.
Put the lid in the microwave to cook.
You’ll need at least an hour for the lid’s seal to fully seal.
You may need to cover the lid with a clean towel or newspaper towel to prevent water from running off the lid during cooking.
You can also pour the water from the lid through a strainer into a small saucepan.
Pour the water out and rinse it off.
Put a paper towel or cloth under the lid for easy cleanup.
You’re now ready to add the lid onto your pot or other microwave to make a pot of soup or soup-like food.
